Brotherly love: Twins try to hoodwink Pinellas County Judge, end up in Pinellas County Jail

In a Pinellas County Courtoom, 40 year old Matthew was set to go to trial for Felony Scheme to Defraud. He was late for his 8:30 a.m court date. So he had his twin brother Marcus stand in front of the Judge and pretend to be him. It worked for a while. But eventually, Jimmy Thomas, a Tampa based criminal defense attorney , figured it out, and told the Judge. He could not risk proceeding with trial without his client at the trial to aid in his own defense.

The result? The Judge jailed the twin for 179 days for criminal contempt, and jailed the defendant for failing to appear. Both twins were booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
